第一屆「福音運動」於一九四二年五月最後的主日，在沙萊諾及阿契諾整個教區舉行。
為了籌備組成了一個執行小組，為使教區內每一個家庭都能有一本福音書。
整個教區約有六千個家庭。每一個本堂負責預先把獻金收集起來；為了能把書分送到每一個家庭，包括那些貧窮的，由較富裕的家庭支援。
六十大包的書運到了沙萊諾，安放在總主教公署的庭院，然後再搬運到波茅那廟，此廟充作倉庫。有幾個紙箱有些破損，需要漏夜處理其中書本。
五月最後一個主日上午十時，在所有的堂區舉行歌唱彌撒，祝福福音書，然後城市和鄉村每個堂區的負責人，開始把福音書帶到每一個家庭。鐘聲響起，直到最後一個負責人回到堂內。
