「你們都到我這裡來」
聖保祿孝女會成立於1915年6月15日。1900年末的跨年夜，會祖雅培理神父為迎接二十世紀的到來而徹夜祈禱；他在朝拜聖體時得到了天主的啟示。雅培理神父當時才16歲，還是個修士，他回顧那時刻，認為這是保祿家庭決定性的一夜。那天晚上，雅培理神父感受到有一道神光從聖體發射出來，是天主慈愛的邀請：「你們都到我這裡來」，從此在他心中產生了強烈的使命感，有感於新的世紀需要新的使徒，並且必須順應時代，採用新的使徒工具與管道來傳播福音。那一夜他領受到的光照，使他更加肯定天主的手在他身上運作，也更堅信從耶穌聖體內可以得到光明、安慰與食糧，並能戰勝惡勢力。
首先有一批女青年協助會祖雅培理神父福傳，其中戴格蘭更不遺餘力地幫助他建立並發展聖保祿孝女會，因此她被稱為「會母」。
雅培理神父非常看重婦女在福傳上所扮演的角色，1915年他邁出關鍵性的一步：建立女性團體。這團體要如同聖保祿一樣，藉由寫作、印刷、發行等方式服務人群，並且以度奉獻團體生活為基礎，如此大家能更統一、更穩定、更持續、更超性地獻身為天主服務。
保祿修女們按照會祖所託付的使命，透過寫作、書籍、雜誌、影音CD、DVD、電視、廣播節目、攝影、網路等獨特的福傳管道來傳揚福音。儘管媒體不斷推陳出新，但神恩是推動進步的力量，使她們勇於嘗試新的管道，並把握任何福傳的機會，因為「天主的道絕束縛不住」（ 弟後二9）。世界各地的保祿書局並非一般的書局，而是人與天主相遇的場所，是修女犧牲奉獻、關懷人靈、聖化自己與聖化人靈的場地。在那裡，無論是基督徒、其他宗教的信徒或無神論者，都可以找到生命的食糧與甘泉，來滿足內心的飢渴，解答生命的疑問，找到方向並尋獲救恩。聖保祿孝女會始終秉持聖保祿牧靈關懷的精神，「為一切人成為一切」（格前九22）。
