1. 聖保祿會贊助會於1917年6月29日，由雅培理神父在義大利古乃奧（Cuneo）省的阿爾巴（Alba）市成立。雅培理神父期望這組織和他不久前為了培養優良的印刷使徒，於1914年和1915年分別創立的男女修會有密切的關係。會祖的思想是以聖保祿為模範，在實行使徒使命時與許多人合作：有男人、女人、夫婦、信徒等等（參羅十六3、9、21；格後八23；斐二25，四3；得前三2；費一24；宗十九22）。其實，贊助會（起初名為「好刊物的贊助組織」）是在聖保祿的守護下成立。這點可參見雅培理神父草擬簡章，和阿爾巴主教若瑟∙方濟各∙雷（Giusppe Francesco Re）於1918年9月29日所批准的簡章No.1中看到。
2. 贊助會在會祖帶領下逐漸發展，他將贊助會的行動發揚光大到保祿家庭各修會的特別宗旨，拓展到為聖體聖事的禮儀服務（耶穌導師主徒修女會）、堂區和教區牧靈（耶穌善牧修女會），以及為聖召服務（宗徒之后修女會）的範圍上。
3. 為延續會祖的志業，保祿家庭五個修會的總會長，和雅培理神父在世最後幾年建立的在俗團體一起，重申積極推動與拓展聖保祿會贊助會的決心，並秉著團結一心的精神，及尊重每個修會特殊性質的路線進行。 按這方式，我們竭力推動會祖已經提到的事實：「上主降福這項工作，這全屬於祂的工程，並結出美好的果實。」（參閱《好刊物的贊助組織》(Unione Cooperatori Buona Stampa) 1924）
4. 我們本著這精神修訂這份更新版章程，將原始章程融入梵二的指導、我們特殊的總會大會，以及多年來的生活和經驗。這份章程經聖保祿會總會長神父Don Renato Perino在1985年6月30日簽屬，於1987年11月30日呈上「修會與在俗團體聖部」，並於1988年3月11日獲得批准，自此好刊物的贊助組織正式成為贊助會，獲准在整個天主教內活動與工作。
5. 在1990年2月，保祿會家庭舉行的第八屆大會中，成立了一個跨委員會，為進一步整合和推動這章程，使它更開放、更適用於相關的保祿家庭各修會的贊助會團體。因此產生了一份更具活力的章程，於1992年獲准內部「試用」期，實施幾年。在第廿五屆保祿家庭大會（2007/1）時，決定蒐集長久來的經驗，重新準備一份新章程，呈請「修會與在俗團體聖部」審核。因此這份章程是為所有保祿家庭各修會、組織的贊助會都通用的章程，然後，由保祿家庭各修會，依照其各自於試用期所得的經驗，補充特別的指南。
